Grant Young has been involved in the field of Human factors and Usability for over 15 years. Grant formed Young & Young Research, a usability consulting firm, in 1999 and now has a list of regular clients that include Dell Computer, Microsoft, ebay, Macromedia, among others. Grant specializes in helping companies define the data they need to make the best business or software/hardware design decisions, and performing empirical testing to acquire that data. Prior to forming Young & Young, Grant was a Senior Usability Engineer at Informix Software where he focused on the usability of database exploration and administration software. Before joining Informix, Grant was a post doctoral fellow at NASA Ames Research Center where he studied Human Factors issues in private and commercial aviation. Grant received his Ph.D. in Cognitive Psychology at New Mexico State University with dissertation research on preventing human error in automated cockpits. Grant's interests include all facets of technology, aviation, and transportation.
