9. Medical tourism is a developing concept in which people from other countries visit India for their medical and relaxation needs. The reason India is a favorable destination for medical treatment is because of its present infrastructure and technology which is on par with those in USA, UK and Europe. India has some of the best hospitals, clinics and treatment centers in the world with the best facilities and best medical professionals. It is also one of the most favorable tourist destinations in the world.
Medication combined with tourism has given rise to 9. Medical tourism. The treatments that are much sought after are heart and knee transplants, cosmetic surgery and dental care. As health care costs are skyrocketing, patients in countries like UK, USA and other European countries are looking overseas for medical treatment. Although India is a developing country, it is capitalizing on its low costs and highly trained and qualified doctors to appeal to the foreign patients. The post-operative care provided here is exceptionally good.
Many countries and hospitals have tie-ups with Indian hospitals to provide advanced treatments to their patients. Many foreign patients come to India on recommendation by others who have undergone similar treatments. Indian corporate hospitals have tele-medicine centers that provide consultation and expert advice to patients even though they are far away.
States like Kerala and Rajasthan have established themselves as centers of medical tourism. Foreign tourists visit Kerala to enjoy the grandeur of God’s own country and also for Ayurvedic treatment. They are here to experience the natural way of healing and for relaxation of the body and mind.
